Cement & Concrete Services was formed in 1998 by Paul Uno. Starting only two courses (1) Cement & Concrete Technology & Practice, and (2) Reinforced Concrete Design Workshop, the company has grown slowly over the past few years to its present day size. It now embraces Seminar Services Australia and Steel Seminars Australia, and in total contains thirteen topics besides the two original courses. Each year since 1998 a new topic has been developed and brought to the marketplace.
The next course introduced after the initial two topics back in 1998 was Concrete Industrial Floors Design & Construction in 2000 and Prestressed Concrete Design and Construction in 2001. Post-Tensioned Concrete using RAPT design software packages followed shortly there afterwards.
This was followed in 2002 by Concrete Repair and Protection, Advanced Reinforced Concrete (2003), then Formwork Design (2005).
In 2005-6 a joint venture with CCS and NPCAA resulted in Precast Concrete.
Steel Seminars was formed in 2006 and resulted in the Design and Construction workshop – Structural Steel (2006).
Due to the high profile of desalination systems and water saving the design course Concrete Liquid Retaining Structures (2007) was introduced.
In 2007 Seminar Services was created resulting in the first non concrete and steel topic -Wind Design (2007).
The following year the design & construction course Tilt Up & Precast Concrete (2008) was introduced for both engineers and construction managers.
Continuing the theme of non product related courses Seminar Services Australia introduced its next course – Earthquake Design (2009).
Then in 2010-11 the long anticipated new housing slabs code prompted the introduction of the next course – Residential Slabs & Footing (2010).
In 2011 a new course titled Industrial Buildings will be introduced to the CCS suite of courses. This is not the only course that CCS-SSA will introduce to the marketplace in 2011 so patrons are advised to keep a watchful eye on our website in coming months.
